DERMAL FILLERS

DERMAL FILLERS INTRODUCTION

Dermal fillers in Marlborough and Bristol are a natural looking and instant way to soften lines and folds by lifting and restoring volume. They are made from hyaluronic acid, a sugar-derived molecule normally found in the skin, providing hydration and support.

As we age our skin loses the plumping effect of the natural hyaluronic acid leading to lines and sagging; our dermal fillers restore the lost hyaluronic acid, lifting and revitalizing your appearance. All of the dermal fillers we use at HighGrove Clinic in Marlborough, Bristol and our other locations, are accredited, market-leading, non-allergenic formulations of hyaluronic acid. Each dermal filler has its own unique properties and can last from 8-24 months.

At the HighGrove Clinic we pride ourselves on delivering clinical excellence and will help you choose the best solution for your individual requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What are dermal fillers?

We only use the highest quality dermal fillers at the HighGrove Clinic. We use highly purified hyaluronic acid fillers derived from sugar molecules, which have been cross-linked in various ways to make firmer or softer gels suitable for supporting, plumping-up and hydrating various facial structures.

Many of our dermal fillers are combined with local anaesthetic to reduce discomfort.

  2. What conditions can dermal fillers be used to treat?

Fillers can be used to lift and re-sculpt tissue. They can smooth the appearance of static lines supporting those tissues, which have lost volume. In so doing, they help provide structure for the face to rejuvenate the facial contours.  Used in the correct way, dermal fillers can be used to treat hollow cheeks, lines around the mouth and nose, loss of lip volume, pronounced tear troughs, nose asymmetry and jaw and chin contouring.

  3. Do Dermal Filler injections hurt?

A very small needle or cannula is all that is needed for the procedure. The filler we use has a local anaesthetic in it to numb the area. Some patients report minor and temporary discomfort from the injection. For lip enhancement, an anaesthetic cream is usually applied. Some temporary local swelling may occur.

  4. How long does dermal filler treatment take?

A dermal filler treatment usually takes around 30 minutes.

  5. When will I see the results?

Results are immediate and depending on the area treated improve over 48 hours or so.

  6. How long do Fillers last?

Typically, the effect of dermal fillers varies depending on the area being treated and the product which is used. Most structural fillers will last 12 to 24 months. Softer lip fillers usually last 6-9 months. The filler is gradually broken down and absorbed by the body, so the lines, wrinkles, cheeks or lips will ultimately return to their previous appearance without top up treatments. Lifestyle factors and an individual’s natural metabolism also affect the duration of the filler’s effects.

  7. Are Dermal Fillers safe?

The dermal fillers we use are extremely safe with a very low incidence of allergic reaction. You can expect some degree of redness and swelling after the treatment, which usually clears up within 1-2 days. All safety issues will be fully discussed at your appointment
